Devil O'The Highlands - Jez

BETTER THE DEVIL YOU RUN: THE NORTH FACE® ULTRA-RUNNER SMASHES ANOTHER RECORD

On the 9th August The North Face® sponsored ultra-marathon runner Jez Bragg smashed yet another record by winning The Devil o’ the Highlands race in spectacular form. Jez knocked an incredible 46 minutes off the existing record of 6hrs 8mins, finishing in 5hrs 22mins.

He now holds the record for all three of the West Highland Way ultra races; The West Highland Way, The Highland Fling and The Devil O’ The Highlands – a truly incredible achievement which has never been realised by anyone else to date.

The Devil o’ the Highlands features the best competitors in the passionate sport of ultra-running - they are given 12 hours to complete the course, over mountain and vale from Tyndrum to Fort William.

Jez comments: “I had a great race, especially with the exceedingly high quality of competitors… 2008 has been a personal triumph so far, but there is no time to rest on my laurels, I want to be at my best for The North Face Ultra-Trail du Mont Blanc at the end of August”

Jez, 26, who hails from Warwick has taken the world of ultra running by storm in the few years since he first started running longer distances. In addition to trail running Jez also broke onto the 100km road running scene in May 2007 and became the UK 100km Champion – he is currently the leading runner in the men’s Great Britain 100km squad.

Jez is making sure his debut year of running for The North Face® is a busy one. He is currently training hard for The North Face® Ultra Trail du Mont Blanc® (163km/100 miles) held on 29-31 August and the World 100km Championships in Italy in November, all of which will provide a good platform for the Commonwealth 100km Championships in September 2009.
