1. Series Update
Five races down, with probably five different weather conditions and new leaders all the time. Fellsman was really hot which seemed to affect most of the runners. Once again Mark Hartell won, now holding all its records for most wins and most wins in a row. Well done, but also a big well done to David Waide and Steve Birkinshaw for chasing him down and coming in only just behind him. What a close race over such a long distance. Further back down the leader board there were several surprizes with Catherine and Karen from Run like a Girl, coming in second female together and even more special was 31st over all! Read the blog here. We are currently getting together some of the other teams to write their team blogs so keep an eye on this slot for more team news and training. Read the race report by Jane Grundy here.

Marlborough Downs was the last race this month, with alot of runners from the southern counties running this extremely fast a runable course. The weather was just right, not too hot and not too cold and the rain stayed off untill we all finished. The Downs were magnificent with all the flowers out along this really pretty route with lots of history and country villages along the way. See Tim Laneys race report here.

2. Series Leaders
The leaders are:

Julian Brown - Mens
David Waide - Mens Vets 50
Adrian Dixon - Mens Vets 60
Karen McDonald - Female
Wendy Dodds - Female Vets 50

This will of course change as more racers get four races in. Keep an eye on the scores here.

3. Grand Slamming
Still two runners qualifying for the slam at the moment. Karen McDonald and Stuart Walker.

5. Web news and updates.

We a re fully into Bob Graham and all the other Rounds season now and we would like you to write about your experiences on these as a runner or a supporter. Lets get the word out there so more of us can see what it is all about, who's done what and where and how long it took etc

If you want to write us a race report for the series or any other Ultra you have taken part in please follow these instructions for sending in the information. We are looking for articles all the time from everyone not just the top racers, we want to know everyones experiences out there on the hills.

6. End of Season social.
We would like your views on an end of season social. For the past 2 years we have had a series prize-giving and cake eating fest at Meerbrook following the Roaches Race. What we want to know is "should we be a bit more ambitious?". At the end of a season you will all, no dount have done some amazing runs, had epic battles with clubmates and the weather and worked up plenty of stories to tell.

Would you like the opportunity of an evening/overnight social - following a suitable race to work up an appetite, of course? What we have in mind is a venue where we can get fed at reasonable prices with a decent bar and some different accomodation options. Probably in late October/early November and probably in the Peak District area.

Last month we only had a few resposes to this so please still email us and let us know what you think. DO YOU WANT A PARTY? Send "YES" (or "NO") to RESPOND HERE

Hope the training is going well, plan your 2008 races, get your entries in early and check back to http://www.runfurther.com/ over the next couple of weeks for lots of news, exciting stories and a new (spam free) forum.

Cheers

Karen, Mark and Si - Team Runfurther
