Race News:  All the races in the UK Ultra-running Champs are run independantly so if you have any questions about the racesor their websites it is probably best to contact the individual race, but any other questions we may be able to help you with. All the helpers behind Runfurther are Ultra-runners and we have and still do run in the races we support, and if we can't help we will try and put you in contact with someone who can! But your best way to find out if a race is suitable for you is to read all about our races from the runners that race in them. See our BLOGS pages or our past events RACE REPORT pages - there is some entertaining reading....... and we are always looking for new reports so if you have a BLOG already or would like to write about your experiences this year then please contact us HERE

In the mean time, Happy Training and we will see you at the races, starting in March with Wuthering Hike and then Hardmoors55. Both events are well run and well attended so get your entries in early before you miss the start line. Both events may need some navigational skills but you can get the routes off the websites to help before hand and get a picture of the sort of terrain you are looking at. For Wuthering Hike think moorland tracks, stoney paths and wet soggy mud on occasions, or like the last few years - snowy and hard under foot. Hardmoors is along alot of the Cleveland Way so has alot of way marked tracks but beware it is a long race with alot of hills. Both perfect to get some miles into your legs before the summer starts!

News next month of some extra prizes for this year - we are going to reward all of you who complete four races in the champs in 2011. That is one from each category and one other, so get signing up.....

We (at Runfurther) and I'm sure alot more of you would like to say a big well done to Jon Morgan and Stephen Watts for their Winter BG round at New Year - and it was wintery.

If you are attemptempting any rounds this year or any big runs you'd like to share with us please let us know and we will get links up and reports. We want people to know what is going on out there - so lets tell them what we are up to...

Other Races

Well again for 2011 Runfurther have joined forces with the Lightning 12 Hour Run....

The Lightning 12 is an event Karen (web looker afterer!) had a go at last year. Karen is not a flat terrain runner, she likes big long ups and downs for a change of pace, but is always open to a challenge. The challenge was the 12 hour solo - she thought it was going to be flat and not suitd to her running but came away from the event on a complete high and absolutely loved the run, the atmosphere and the fact that she came 4th. The Lightning Run can be done as a solo, or in teams of 2 or more, so why not get together with your partner or a bunch of mates and get down to herefordhire and the grounds of Eastnor Castle. See HERE for details and entry forms or read Karen's report HERE from last years event. And if that gets you going there is always the Thunder Run, a 24 hour version of the same in August!

Runfurther Buff

You can now support runfurther with your very own Runfurther Buff - spread the word about running further and help support the website that brings you the UK Ultra-running Champs - they are also pretty cool we think!!! Click on the picture to go to our online shop - the Buffs are £15 (inc p&p) online or catch us at the races where they are only £12 each, or at the party.

Motivation Talk   Ray Matthews who ran the 2010 Round Rotherham twice in one go - yep he ran round once before everyone else, timed it to perfection to join the rest of you on your one attempt and then finished just after prize giving. He raises alot of money for charity doing races and motivational talks about his races. ray has his next talk on the 11th Feb in Rotherham at the Energy Gym and is speaking all about his Sahara Desert Racing and othe endurance runs he has achieved. please contact ray if you are inteested in going along as tickets are going pretty quickly. raymond226 @ btinternet.com (leave out tha gaps please - they are to stop spam mail finding its way to his inbox!)
