Another Year Over...

The Races:  All our races saw record numbers entered or finishing giving race organisors the confidence that ultra-running is a growing sport. The Montane Lakeland 100 and 50 upping their entries by well over 50% from last year - this race just gets bigger and bigger. Wuthering Hike, Calderdale, Osmotherley and Fellsman all saw entries get to full, some races upped their entry numbers to take in the extra runners. Lets keep this trend going and keep on running further...... We will be announcing next years finalised races and sponsors in the next newsletter so watch this space!

The Sponsors: Wow what a supperb year for spot prizes and race prices from our sponsors, we had extra Clif product for feed stations at 4 races, we had more give away products than ever before including Elete Water, OMM packs, and Thorlo Socks, with massive amounts of vasque Shoe Vouchers and Lakesrunner Vouchers given away at the end of year bash we hope you all like your new kit. Please don't forget to spend your vouchers before 31st Decemeber 2010 as they will be out of date after that!

Media Partners: Running Fitness and The Fellrunner had articles from Runfurther, Team Runfurther Competitions and Race Reports from some of the runners in nearly every issue - we are getting this sport known and encouraging more people into it all the time....

See the Leader Board HERE - to see how well you did this year...

The Runfurther End of Year Bash & prize Giving.....

This years prize giving, cake eating, slide show watching and a moderate amount of drinking was a huge success (although numbers were a little low compared to last year - I think we accidentally chose half term - we will try harder next year for a better date!)

SATURDAY: The run was in appalling weather but everyone went out with smiles and came back with drenched ones! Tom Brunt was the fastest and got all the checkpoints (three hour score event) with only a few minutes spare! Tim Laney was second and Andy Rankin was just behind him. Nick Ham was a proud last with the funniest tale HERE - it is a must read of his tale of the day!

SATURDAY EVENING: In the evening we all gathered for some bubbly, chatting and food while we got entertained in the form of a slide show and talk by Spyke (Stephen Pyke) - the new Munro Record Holder, what an awe inspiring tale of snow, more snow and even more snow, wind, rain and alot of big hills! He tells a good tale and if you missed it you missed out! We then had cake ended with prize giving and the top prizes going to Jon Morgan and Kate Bailey with Team Runfurther picking up both the top places.

SUNDAY: A few of us went out mountain biking in gorgeous weather...

First up is the classic season opener – Wuthering Hike – a fast 31ish mile tour of Bronte country you can run as solos or pairs and will provide a good indication of how solid that winter training base has been.
