Welcome once again to all you Round The Rockers and wanna - be Rockers, it has come to that time once more to enthuse you and hopefully motivate you into tightening your trusty running shoes and hitting the highways and byeways, building up the miles towards Race Day with  only 150 days to go. Thankfully the days are lengthening and my head torch has been removed from my rucksack allowing me to run lighter.

Much has happened in the last month at Round The Rock headquarters, we have taken delivery of our race banners, posters and flyers  which are now starting to spring up round the island and yes I am excited! We have now reached the heady heights of 36 competitors with four entering in the last week alone and almost half are from across the Channel; Our line up now includes Cosmic Hill Bashers from Glasgow and Dark Peak Fell Runners from Sheffield. From an original goal of 50 we are now hedging our bets and looking to over 70; That would be a success for the first run. To help us make this a race to remember I have attached our flyer and if you able to, we would be very grateful if you could forward it to likeminded, insane folk or display it at work!

As promised, we are offering training sessions and are pleased to announce that they are happening! We have decided to offer an initial four sessions which will be kindly run by Craig Meredith of Fit2Function and these will follow the actual race route, but not in one run! So if you are considering running RTR or have already signed up, but need to build up your training, gain some useful training tips or just wish to familiarise yourself with the route; here  is your chance. Do not worry, the pace will allow for all runners!

The first run will be from the Steam Clock to Check point 1 at St. Catherine’s Breakwater and will take place on Sunday 27th March at 8am.

We will confirm dates nearer the time for the following stages:

The second  stage will be St. Catherines to La Fontaine and will be a longer hillier run. We have had to move our check point from Wolfs Caves due to development works.

The third will run from la Fontaine to Grosnez

Fourth will be Grosnez to Beauport

Final stage Beauport to Steam Clock.

To ensure that you are not stranded and have to return on foot, please email us so we know if you wish to run with us and then we can arrange adequate transport.

If you haven’t looked through the website recently you may find the article on the Winter Walk useful in terms of gaining ideas on equipment, hydration and nutrition. The write up highlights the importance of spending time experimenting during training and how we are each so different in terms of our approaches and physical needs. So, get those laces tightened and head out onto those cliff paths for some trail time, enjoy!

We have been receiving so many emails from potential runners and special requests from existing entrants with queries about routes, training strategies, food requests and even race number requests. Please keep them coming and we will do our best to support you.
